Contrast in styles here, LSU has not played very good competition so far, Utah has played very good comp. Hopefully Utah can keep this a low scoring game if so 7 points is a lot.
Tigers do like to score and Lloreda is a MAN inside...I dunno about Utah here..
I know LSU hasn't played anyone, but I've watched em practice, and they look pretty darn good. I think they may make this ESPN game their coming out party and really put up some points. I think a 20 point win would not be surprising in the least !
I have not seen the Tigers play, but I understand they have a freshman guard that is going to be very good. My concern would be this is the freshman's first game against real competition and Utah plays a nasty style of defense that may rattle the freshman. Inside Utah has some pretty good size and experience, I don't think LSU will win this game pounding the ball inside. LSU probably has the more athletic team if this becomes a full court game LSU will win easily. I'm betting it will not, obviously. WEWILLSEE.
LSU is a terrible free-throw shooting team this year. If Utah slows down this game, they will cover. However, I will tell you this....the Tigers are pumped up for this ESPN game and could easily beat the brakes off this Utah team.
Gotta agree with Schouest and LSUPete - I have seen alot of pro-Utah posts this morning and I find it very difficult to beleive Utah is a good play here -- LSU is a very athletic group and similar teams have given Utah much more than they can handle - doesn't anyone remember how bad both TT and UCONN made this team look and that was a neutral court. Here they go into a madhouse on national TV?
I'll be strongly considering fading what appears to be a public dog here.
Jdog--There are 3 freshman players that will see considerable time...The guard will be the least of their worries...Regis Koundjia and Brandon Brass...One of them will draw the nation's eye tonight and maybe even both...Should be a great game to watch because Brady will get them to play some D also....
Lsu does have a freshman guard but has another athletic one - Xavier Whipple - that would start for UTAH and a lot of other teams...I agree with you Pete on the free throw shooting but the team has to step up beyond Jaimie's #'s...Brandon looks like he will be more consistent at the line and I just see them burying 3's in bunches this year....
I agree that I think LSU will be good by the end of this year, but I don't know how good they are right now. LSU has shot almost 50% from 3 and given up 38% from 3 looks like they have played no one that plays defense at all.Utah is one of the best defenders of the 3 in basketball giving up 23%. Lsu can certainly cover this game but I will bet on the team with at least a little experience this year and the 7 points.GL
Sorry almost game time, but I think OVEr is the play. LSU should come out firing. Even if utah plays their game... I still think 123 is on th elow end. Total should be around 135-138....
Don't let this game get you down....and for God's sake don't over-estimate this LSU squad....they will turn in some real stinkers this year. Wait until January, during the first week of the spring semester, and watch the Tigers lose several in a row.....distractions will kill this young team.
